The outfit, high-waisted, simple and clean. It's a little trendy because of it being clean, connecting it to the Nude Color trend this 2010 (for the top). I especially like the skirt, it's not so much trendy but it's stylish.
According to the trend cycle chart, i would say that the outfit is at the Peak already. And it's under the Trickle Down Theory, because i first saw it at high-end stores and it doesn't look like it came from the streets.
The Nude Color trend started in 1989. One of the items to track down was a one-piece bodysuit in Nude Color in 1994. It evolved into being an art in 2000. It reached its peak in 2001 when stylish girl's in China had Nude portraits of themselves. In 2004, the trend was patterned in pantyhose and fishnets. And in 2006 it became key piece trend in spring. Now, it's one of the season's trends already.

The outfit is good, a low V-necked dress and a black tube top to match it, very casual and fit for a dinner date with friends.
That dress style is pretty much in between Peak and Decline because i don't really see it much around anymore. And i think it applies the Trickle Up Theory (from the streets to the high-end) because of its looseness and comfortable feel.
The loose kind of clothing started during the Grunge Era in 1990s. Grunge fashion started from Music where it's defined as a sound with high-level of distortion and fuzz. So when it came clothes, the outcome was a little tattered, cheap, and that came from a thrift store. It was adopted by designers and transformed it into something that looks clean but still look Grunge-y.

Zara is one of my favorite stores, even if i find some items unreasonable. I wouldn't say that it's fashion-forward, but it's very stylish and always up-to-date with the latest trends. They know what customers want. From the window displays to the layout of the store, i would say their marketing strategy is effective.
Mexx is the other store i picked because it's one of those stores that i don't really go into. So to see something different for a change, i picked this store. I found out that they have women's wear and children's wear, because i thought it was only for men. I didn't like the clothes, it kind of caters to more adult-ish people and i didn't see style. I don't think their marketing strategy is effective because when i asked my friends if they know this store and most of them don't know it. It's a very simple store which has simple clothes.
