SCHOOL IS COOL???

Many studies relate productivity to the working surroundings. If so, will a well-designed cafeteria encourage healthy dining of the students? Aside from jail and correctional institutions, school cafeterias are stereo-typed to being providers of uninviting delicacies, could the eating environment contribute to the distaste of menu? And could this be a factor of the flailing performance of students?

The School Food Trust of the United Kingdom seem to think so. In their aim to improve the quality of school food and to promote the health of children, they are creating new school dining environments across the UK by hiring renowned architects to transform dull, lifeless cafeterias into the chosen rendezvous spot on campus.

Their pilot project in a Southampton School boasts artistic and functional features which has become a popular hang-out spot for its students.
